French Polynesian president in floral shirt stands out in PM Wong's group photo: 'That's one cool man'
You can't miss him.
While all the other men in the photo wore a dark suit jacket, French Polynesian president Moetai Brotherson stood in front in a bright blue floral shirt, a dark blue traditional lavalava wrap and sandals next to Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
PM Wong shared the group photo on social media on May 22 and wrote: "Earlier this week, Singapore hosted the Pacific ministers in Singapore for the third Singapore-Pacific High-Level Visit. I was glad to meet them yesterday at the Istana - my first official event as PM with external visitors."
Mr Brotherson caught netizens' eye not only for his attire but also for his stature.
"Who is the absolute unit in the floral shirt?" asked someone on X.
Another commented on Instagram: "That's one cool man."
One pointed out: "Well, he can be seen as the rude guy or the guy who gets our weather best!"
Several netizens commended Mr Brotherson for dressing correctly for Singapore's climate with one adding: "I guess the other ministers were envying his comfy fit though."
But the best comment award should probably go to "Istana but make it beach".

However, a Facebook user took umbrage at the casual wear, opining: "That guy in the blue shirt is dressed inappropriately, small island or not."
Someone replied: "Looks the most comfortable. President of French Polynesia. I understand he views the neck tie as a colonial yoke choking his independence aspirations."
Stomp has contacted Mr Brotherson for more info.
He was elected president of French Polynesia, a group of small islands in the South Pacific, in May 2023.
