Fleeing PMD rider falls after colliding with LTA enforcement officer, cyclist tries to kick another
They did not comply.
Land Transport Authority (LTA) enforcement officers stopped two errant cyclists and a delinquent personal mobility device (PMD) rider in Punggol on Feb 5 evening, resulting in one of the officers suffering minor injuries.
A Stomper shared photos of a group of people including police and paramedics on a bridge at Lorong Halus near Block 654A Punggol Drive at around 7.45pm.
He said that two boys were riding non-compliant fixie bikes and another was riding a Fiido e-scooter.
"All tried to escape but were unsuccessful," recounted the Stomper. "One fell because he was forcefully stopped."
In response to a Stomp query, an LTA spokesperson said: "During the engagement, the PMD rider attempted to evade the officers by dashing past them. In the process, he collided with the officer’s hand and fell.
"One of the cyclists also tried unsuccessfully to kick another officer.
"The police and SCDF (Singapore Civil Defence Force) were called for assistance. The enforcement officer declined to be conveyed to the hospital and sought medical treatment separately after the incident."
SCDF told Stomp that the person was assessed for minor injuries
Both bicycles and the PMD were found to be non-compliant and were impounded, said LTA.
"Police investigations are ongoing against the cyclist for using criminal force against a public officer, and the PMD rider for rash act causing hurt," added the spokesperson.
"We remind the public to comply with the instructions of enforcement officers. We will not tolerate any form of aggression towards our officers, and offenders will face the full force of the law."
LTA also posted on its social media on Feb 15 about its enforcement officers acting against a group of youths riding modified and non-compliant active mobility devices on Punggol roads on Feb 3.
"Their ambush operations resulted in four non-compliant devices being impounded," said the post.
