Fire destroys over half of industrial facility storing oil at Johor Bahru
A fire broke out at an industrial facility in Johor Bahru on the afternoon of June 21.
Stomper Pavan captured a video of the incident at around 3pm, showing thick black smoke billowing into the sky.
In one clip, the smoke is seen rising behind trees wilting from the heat, with flames still burning on the ground.
According to the New Straits Times, the fire broke out at an industrial facility storing engine oil and lorries at Jalan Cenderai 27, Taman Kota Puteri.
The fire destroyed around 60 per cent of the facility grounds.
The Johor Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) received an emergency call at 12.54pm, and the first team arrived on the scene at 1.06pm.
An active blaze was found at the lorry depot, which spread rapidly due to strong winds, setting fire to a nearby oil storage area not in use.
No injuries were reported.
Seven fire engines and 34 personnel from six fire stations were involved in the operation.
JFRD operations commander Sarhan Akmal Mohammad said: "Initial suppression used two 1,200-foot hose lines and water from fire tankers and nearby hydrants. Additional teams deployed foam to contain flammable residue."
