Filthy bicycle parking area at Yishun MRT station 'suddenly becomes clean': Passer-by
A sheltered bicycle parking area near Yishun MRT station, which a Stomper described as "very dirty", has been cleaned up.
Stomper Dark Missions earlier expressed his frustrations with the situation. He also complained about going around in circles when he reported the issue in Dec 2024 and Jan 2025, and not knowing whose purview it fell under.
The space was cleaned up after his report was published.
"Despite the area finally being cleaned up, I'm puzzled by the 'pushing' by different agencies over who's responsible for the area's cleaning maintenance," he told Stomp on March 4.
A man told Shin Min Daily News that he has been been parking his bicycle in the area for years and sanitation there has always been poor.
The ground is also often littered with trash such as tissue paper, empty bottles and plastic bags.
The man added: "Rubbish often appears in the bicycle baskets."
Another member of the public echoed similar sentiments in Shin Min's March 9 report, but said that the area "suddenly became clean" in the last few days.
In response to media queries, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said the area was cleaned up last month and it will continue to work closely with relevant parties to ensure the site's cleanliness.
