Elderly man falls on slippery slope at Teck Whye, town council steps up safety measures
An elderly man was taken to hospital after slipping and falling on a slippery walkway near Block 17 Teck Whye Lane on Dec 3.
Stomper Sam Teo, who is a long-time Teck Whye resident, alerted Stomp to the incident that happened and shared that this is not the first time elderly residents in the area have slipped on this particular slope.
"It gets even more slippery when it rains," he said.
He praised the actions of a young lady who stopped to help the man.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Stomp that they received a call for assistance at about 6pm and conveyed the man to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

The Stomper shared that he has raised the issue of the hazardous walkway to his Member of Parliament (MP), Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Young on Nov 21.
"DPM Gan replied and said he would ask the Chua Chu Kang Town Council to look into it," Mr Teo said.
"But then, just weeks later, another elderly man fell.
"I think they are waiting for more people to fall before they act."
In response to a Stomp query, the Chua Chu Kang Town Council acknowledged it had received feedback about the slippery walkway before the Dec 3 incident.
"Prior to this, we had received feedback in late November that the walkway, which is on a slope, could get slippery when wet," said a spokesperson for the town council.
"As a precaution, we put up prominent warning signs on several pillars along the walkway cautioning users to be careful and to note that the floor can get slippery when wet.
"These notices are visible to pedestrians from both directions.

"As an extra safety measure, we have directed our contractor to apply an anti-slip coating to the affected area.
"This will be completed in the coming week due to the inclement weather in the past fortnight.
"Safety is always one of our top priorities.
"As an additional precaution, we have since jet-sprayed the walkway to remove any algae that may have formed due to the present rainy season.
"The safety and well-being of our residents and visitors are of utmost importance to us.
"Due to the wet weather conditions during this year-end season, we urge the public and all residents to exercise caution and take extra care when moving about."
