A man fell at the end of a travellator in Jewel Changi Airport, causing people with baggage and trolleys to pile up behind him, said a witness.

Stomper Sebastian was involved in the incident on Sept 22 at 11.20pm after flying back from Beijing.

"What was meant to be a calm evening after touching down in Singapore turned into an unexpected incident at Jewel," recounted the Stomper.

"An elderly man with a walking difficulty lost his balance and fell at the end of the travellator, triggering a chain reaction of baggage and trolleys colliding.

"I was just a few steps behind about to be caught in it myself. Instinctively, I tried to step backwards and called out to those behind me to do the same.

"I also shouted to three Changi Airport ambassadors in red jackets standing nearby to press the emergency stop button, but they didn't move or did not know how to react."

That was when the Stomper leapt into action.

"In that moment, I let go of my luggage and rushed forward to reach the stop button myself," he said.

"Thankfully, the travellator came to a halt just in time before it could have turned into something much worse."

Stomp has contacted Jewel Changi Airport for more info.
