A 37-year-old power-assisted bicycle (PAB) rider was taken to the hospital after he fell into a drain in Eunos on June 20.

Stomper Jane shared photos of the incident, which were also circulated online.

The photos show the man upside down in the drain up to his waist with his legs awkwardly sticking out. Another photo also shows the e-bike on the grass.

In response to a Stomp query, the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident near Block 115 Eunos Avenue 3 at about 3.15pm.

The police said the PAB is believed to have self-skidded along Eunos Avenue 3 towards Eunos Road 8.

The rider was conscious when taken to Changi General Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Some netizens faulted the person who took the photos for taking photos instead of helping the man.

One Redditor commented sarcastically: "Should we help him? No, I think we should take a photo first, it will get us internet points!"

But another pointed out: "Actually, the person who took the photo and share with the public did a lot for road safety awareness. This photo will always appear to remind/scare road users to be more careful and don't do anything illegal. See this rider, wear helmet also drop out.

"Also if is a weak girl, I don't think will have any strength to help the guy out except call ambulance and wait for it to come."

Someone else replied: "Dude. If he fell in head first and is unable to get up, it's best not to be a moron and move him. His head, spine and neck is in jeopardy. Let the paramedics do their spine immobilisation.

"Yeah, I know people do take photo instead of helping. But don't be a genius in an injury situation."

On another Reddit post, a commenter said: "Sometimes not helping is helping. Let him lie like that means you might not hurt his spine. Let the professional handle.

"Just like how if there's an accident, you don't move that person up. One mistake from common folk like us is we might end up hurting more when trying to help."
