A driver of foreign-registered Toyota Alphard was caught near Block 494F Tampines Street 43 on Feb 11 for providing illegal ride-hailing services between Singapore and Malaysia.

He was one of four drivers caught for the offence on the day, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a Facebook post.

All their vehicles were impounded. Photos posted by LTA show the minivans being towed away.

The post added: "Avoid using illegal ride-hailing services. Lacking proper licencing and insurance, they pose serious risks to passengers, especially when accidents occur.

"We will continue to take action against drivers who provide illegal hire-and-reward services, including cross-border trips without a valid Public Service Vehicle Licence (PSVL).

"Offenders face up to $3,000 fine, six months imprisonment, or both. Their vehicles may also be forfeited."

Two months earlier, 12 drivers were caught at Changi Airport providing illegal ride-hailing services within Singapore to and from Malaysia on Dec 18.
