Driver allegedly fell asleep in stationary Mercedes at Tampines junction, to be charged with drink driving
A 35-year-old man allegedly left his Mercedes-Benz in a stationary position at a Tampines junction recently after falling asleep at the wheel.
He is one of 17 motorists, aged between 27 and 48, who will be charged in court on Aug 28 with drink-driving offences.
They were arrested between June and August after failing breathalyser tests administered during Police enforcement checks.
Two of them are facing an additional charge of leaving a vehicle in a position causing undue inconvenience to others.
One of them, the Mercedes driver, allegedly did so at Tampines Avenue 5. The other man, 30, allegedly left his Toyota in a stationary position at Rangoon Road. Their actions obstructed and potentially caused danger to other road users.
Investigations revealed that both had driven their cars after allegedly consuming alcohol and fell asleep at the wheel.

The offence of driving while under the influence of alcohol under carries a fine ranging from $2,000 to $10,000, an imprisonment term of up to 12 months or both.
In the case of a subsequent conviction, the offence carries a fine ranging from $5,000 to $20,000, an imprisonment term of up to two years or both.
Offenders may also face disqualification from driving all classes of vehicles.
The offence of leaving a vehicle in a position causing undue inconvenience to others carries a fine of up to $2,000, an imprisonment term of up to three months or both.
In the case of a second or subsequent conviction, motorists are liable to a fine of up to $5,000, an imprisonment term of up to six months or both.
