Door of Bukit Merah flat splashed with yellow paint, man arrested for loanshark harassment on same day

A 32-year-old man was arrested after the main door of a Jalan Bukit Merah flat was splashed with yellow paint.

The police were alerted to the case of loanshark harassment on Jan 15.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day.

A can of yellow paint was seized as case exhibit.

The man will be charged in court on Jan 16 under the Moneylenders Act 2008.

For first-time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, with imprisonment of up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes.
