A family’s Father’s Day celebration at Collin’s Tampines 1 outlet was ruined by two cockroaches.

Stomper En visited the restaurant for dinner on June 14 at about 6pm.

“My family and I were celebrating when halfway through, two baby cockroaches crawled along the walls and floor near us,” recounted the Stomper.

En claimed the staff ignored the family’s complaints.

“We told a staff member, and she acknowledged with an ‘okay’.

“Next, we asked to see the manager, and the same staff member said ‘okay’, but the manager didn't come.

“Then we said we would report this to the SFA, and the same staff member said ‘okay’ again.

“She went back to serving other customers and ignored us regarding this hygiene issue.”

The family had to take matters into their own hands.

“We had to step and kill the one on the floor ourselves, and the one on the wall was crawling away,” said the Stomper.

“We quickly settled the bill and left the outlet once this happened. It ruined the celebration as we felt disgusted by the hygiene and the staff’s response.”

In response to a Stomp query, a Singapore Food Agency (SFA) spokesperson said it inspected the food establishment and did not detect any food safety lapses or pest infestation.

“Nonetheless, the food operator was reminded to ensure their premises are clean, well-maintained and pest-free and that their food handlers adhere to good food safety practices at all times.

“Food safety is a joint responsibility. While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices.

“Members of the public who have concerns about food safety practices by food operators should report to SFA via the online feedback form (www.sfa.gov.sg/feedback).

“SFA takes a serious view towards food safety and will investigate all feedback alleging poor food safety practices.

“As part of the enquiry and gathering of evidence, SFA may engage the feedback provider for more details and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained.”
