A diner was having lunch at CT Hub 2 in Kallang when he discovered rope in his economy rice.

The incident occurred on Aug 20, at around 12.45pm.

Stomper F shared photos of the rope, which he believes was used to bind vegetables.

"To be honest, I like the stall's food and do not think this is a big issue," said the Stomper. "I guess they were careless, but at least it wasn't a bug or a cockroach. Still, it's food and they should be careful."

F did not inform the stall about the incident, but reported it to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).

He added: "I think they deserve at least a warning, so they will be more cautious when handling food."

In response to a Stomp query, SFA said it is looking into the matter.

"Food safety is a joint responsibility," the agency reminded.

"While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices. Food operators should also ensure their premises are clean and well-maintained."

Members of the public who have concerns about food safety practices by food operators should report to SFA via its online feedback form.

SFA said it takes a serious view towards food safety and will investigate all feedback alleging poor food safety practices.

As part of the enquiry and gathering of evidence, SFA may engage the feedback provider for more details and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained.
