Diner concerned after seeing raw chicken chopped near cooked food at Jurong East canteen
A man was alarmed to witness raw chicken being chopped near cooked food at a food stall located in a canteen at 48 Toh Guan Road East on May 24.
Stomper Shankar shared a video taken at around 3.26pm and said the incident raised public health concerns.
"They were chopping a whole chicken right in front of all the cooked food," he told Stomp. "So scary, like they never care for public health."
In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said it had inspected the food establishment following the feedback.
"SFA did not detect any food safety lapses," an SFA spokesperson said. "Nonetheless, the food operator was reminded to take precautionary measures while preparing food to avoid potential cross-contamination."
SFA added that food safety is a joint responsibility and urged all food operators to ensure proper hygiene and cleanliness in their premises.
It also encouraged members of the public who observe poor food practices to submit feedback via www.sfa.gov.sg/feedback, assuring that it takes all food safety complaints seriously and will not hesitate to act if sufficient evidence is found.
