Did artificial intelligence predict Lawrence Wong to be Prime Minister of Singapore in 2050?

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong is slated to take over as the next secretary-general of the People's Action Party (PAP) after Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong confirmed stepping down as PAP chief.

"I will lead the PAP into the next General Election," said Mr Wong at the biennial PAP conference on Nov 24.

What about the election after that? And the one after that?

In March 2023, someone used artificial intelligence (AI) to create eight portraits of what Singapore's PM in 2050 may look like.

Could Mr Wong, who was sworn in later as PM on May 24, 2024, be one of them?

Two of the AI-generated PMs are women, so they are definitely not him.

Four are bespectacled Chinese-looking men with grey hair. Born in 1972, Mr Wong, who wears glasses, would be 78 years old in 2050, so his hair would likely turn grey by then.

So it is not unimaginable that he could age into one of the four bespectacled Chinese-looking men with grey hair created by AI.

Ironically, one AI-generated PM that Mr Wong resembles was also thought to look like opposition party member Png Eng Huat.

Born in 1961, Mr Png would be 89 in 2050.

How old can the PM be?

Singapore's first PM, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, was PM until he was 67 years old.

His successor, Mr Goh Chok Tong, was PM until he was 63.

Mr Lee Hsien Loong was PM until he was 72.

Could PM Wong still be Singapore's PM when he is 78 in 2050 - as possibly predicted by AI?
