Designated pick-up point with double yellow lines outside MRT station may confuse motorists, says one
A designated pick-up point with double yellow lines outside an MRT station may confuse motorists, said one.
Stomper Joe shared a screenshot of Google Map showing the area outside Tai Seng MRT station where he said he was recently ticketed for parking on double yellow lines.

"While I acknowledge that parking on unbroken double yellow lines is prohibited at all times, except for immediate pick-up and drop-off, the specific location in question serves as a designated pick-up point, which may mislead drivers into believing that temporary stopping is permissible," said the Stomper.
"This overlap between pick-up point designation and double yellow line markings creates ambiguity, especially during adverse weather conditions, such as the heavy rain experienced during that period.
"I am concerned that this combination of signage and road markings may inadvertently lead to unintentional violations by well-meaning motorists. To prevent future misunderstandings, I suggest a review of the signage and road markings at this location to ensure clarity for all road users."
Parking a vehicle on a road with unbroken double yellow lines is punishable with a $110 fine.
Despite common misconception, "parking" does not only mean turning off your engine and leaving your vehicle somewhere. A waiting vehicle can be considered to be parking even if the driver is present or if the engine is running.
Parking means stopping a vehicle other than to immediately pick up and drop off passengers, goods or luggage.
So you are allowed to stop on roads with double yellow lines only for immediate pick-up and drop-off.
Designating an area with double yellow lines as a pick-up point does not imply that you are allowed to temporarily stop there for reasons other than immediate pick-up and drop-off.
