A Stomper was upset to find his GrabFood order placed on the doorstep outside his home, despite having hooks on his gate meant for hanging deliveries.

Stomper Mikey said the incident happened on Feb 26 at his ground-floor unit. He declined to share his address, but said he lives "in the west".

He had ordered $30 worth of food items, including chicken rice and prawn laksa.

"You can see I have two white hooks on my gate, but this joker opened my gate and placed it on the floor," he said. "They are not supposed to open my gate without any instruction."

Mikey said he noticed the food on the ground when he went to collect his order after hearing the doorbell.

"The moment the doorbell rang, I ran down to the door and was surprised to see the food on the floor," he said.

He added that there were birds loitering nearby and was worried they might get to the food.

In response to a Stomp query, Grab apologised for the customer's experience and wanted to assure him that it takes food hygiene seriously.

"While our investigation found the delivery-partner didn't notice the hooks on the gate, the choice of location for food placement, however, breached our food hygiene guidelines," a Grab spokesperson said.

"The delivery-partner has been temporarily suspended and will be required to complete an additional food hygiene training course with a Grab Captain.

"We encourage all customers to reach out via the in-app Help Centre for any delivery-related concerns, as our team is always ready to support our community."
