Tampines restaurant Srisun Express has responded to a customer who expressed shock at the portion of the mutton she got for the price she paid.

A spokesperson explained that a technical glitch led to a delay in the restaurant's response.

Stomper Leesza had visited Srisun Express at Tampines Street 43 on July 17.

"I ordered one portion of mutton and it cost me $8.18 (inclusive of the 9 per cent goods and services tax)," she recounted. "Upon being served the food, I was shocked by the mutton portion,

"I went to the counter and ask and the man replied that it was supposed to be like that, about five to six pieces of mutton. I asked how can it be. He told me that the price of raw mutton has risen to $32 for 1kg and said, 'If you think the price is high, you go other place.'

"He replied in such a rude and arrogant way."

The restaurant spokesperson told Stomp: "The customer felt that the mutton proportion in the dish was not justifiable.

"With the inflation on the rise, we have always strived to offer dishes that provide good value for money and ensure quality ingredients. We continuously review our portions and pricing to maintain this balance.

"However, we appreciate all feedback and will take this into consideration."

The spokesperson added: "We sincerely apologise if any member of our staff came across as rude. We take such matters very seriously and are committed to providing excellent customer service. We will address this issue internally to ensure it does not happen again."

The restaurant also addressed another Stomp report, where Stomper Duan claimed that he was charged 10 per cent GST by Srisun Express on Feb 10.

The spokesperson said: "The article mentioned that we charged a 10 per cent GST, which is incorrect.

"According to the law, we charge 9 per cent GST. The customer's subtotal bill was $3.50, and we included a 10 per cent Chinese New Year surcharge, making the total $3.85.

"The 9 per cent GST was then applied, amounting to $0.35, which is accurately reflected on the receipt."

The original article also provided this explanation for the perceived 10 per cent GST charge.
