A couple brought two cats in a carrier on board the MRT train even though pets are not allowed.

Stomper Kitty was on a Thomson-East Coast Line train heading towards Woodlands South when she spotted the man and woman with their animals on May 26 at 4.30pm.

"I thought it is not allowed to bring any pets inside a train?" said the Stomper.

According to the Rapid Transit Systems Act, no animals are allowed on any part of railway premises except guide dogs and police dogs. The maximum fine is $500.

The cat in the photo shared by the Stomper looked well-groomed, was quiet and resting calmly in a transparent Ibiyaya pet carrier bag on the carriage floor.

The feline appears to be a Persian breed, which according to MoneySmart, costs $800 to adopt in 2019.

A Persian cat is likened to a “high-maintenance” girlfriend as owners have to spend more on health and grooming due to the animal’s fragility.
