The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has adjusted Continental Delight Catering Services' food hygiene grade from A to C with effect from May 16 to be reviewed in 12 months.

The premises will also be kept under surveillance.

This comes after 107 individuals were reported to have gastroenteritis symptoms after consuming food prepared by the caterer on Nov 15 and 16, 2023. None were hospitalised.

A joint investigation by the Ministry of Health and the SFA was conducted on Nov 20, 2023, at Continental Delight's premises at 21 Second Chin Bee Road.

Several food safety lapses were identified during the inspection, including a damaged hot-holding metal cabinet, which may cause it to be ineffective in maintaining cooked food at a safe temperature.

A food sample also failed SFA's food safety tests.

SFA suspended the licensee's food business operation from Nov 22 to 30, 2023.

On April 16, 2025, Continental Delight was fined $1,000.

On its website, the company claimed to be the first halal-certified caterer in Singapore, having started in 1986.
