Clementi coffee shop suspended a day, fined for failing to maintain sanitary fittings in good condition
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) suspended the licence of CDP Kimly coffee shop at Block 325 Clementi Avenue 5 for one day on July 26.
The eating house accumulated 12 demerit points within a 12-month period and was fined $1,300 for three instances of failing to maintain sanitary fittings, et cetera, in good working condition and repair.
In a separate case, a food stall called Shu Du Fan Dian in People's Park Complex was suspended four weeks starting from July 23 until Aug 19.
The stall accumulated 12 demerit points within a 12-month period and was fined a total of $800 for failing to register two assistants.
All food handlers working in the suspended premises are required to re-attend and pass the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Food Safety Course Level 1 before they can resume work as food handlers.
The stall is also required to ensure that all food hygiene officers working in the suspended premises, if any, re-attend and pass the WSQ Food Safety Course Level 3.
SFA said it takes a serious view of these offences and would like to remind food business operators to observe good food and personal hygiene practices at all times. This includes engaging only registered food handlers and ensuring upkeep and maintenance of licensed premises, including toilets within.
If you come across poor food safety practices in food establishments, you are advised not to patronise such outlets and provide feedback via the online feedback form at www.sfa.gov.sg/feedback or to call our SFA Contact Centre at 6805-2871.
