Chinatown restaurant employee allegedly stands in public parking lot to chope space for customer
A restaurant staff member allegedly attempted to reserve a public parking lot for a customer in Chinatown on July 2.
Stomper Chester was driving along Keong Saik Road at about 12.45pm, when he came across an empty parking lot.
He told Stomp: "When my friend and I were about to park, a restaurant staff member prevented us from parking, claiming he was reserving the lot for his restaurant customer."
The Stomper explained to the staff member that the lot was public, and that he should not prevent others from parking in it.
However, the staff member refused to move, said Chester.

"Shortly after, a lady in a black dress came out of the restaurant and blocked the parking lot," he recounted. "I asked them again if they could step aside, but they firmly refused."
Chester added: "Public lots are to be occupied by cars on a first-come-first-served basis rather than by humans waiting for their friends to arrive later."
According to Chester, the staff member and the woman saw him taking photographs of the incident, prompting the woman to walk back into the restaurant.
"Despite my pleas, this restaurant staff member continued to ignore me and decided to stay put. The lady later signalled for the staff to return to the restaurant, which he complied with.
"It is unclear to me who the lady was, but it seems like she wielded enough power for restaurant staff to obey her orders.
"In the end, my friend and I found another parking lot a few blocks down the street."
Stomp has contacted the restaurant for more information.
