Chinese national accused of using someone else's Amex card to buy $32,716 Rolex at Somerset shop
A 49-year-old man was charged with cheating on Feb 12 for his suspected involvement in credit card fraud.
The police were alerted to the case on Jan 23.
Several local merchants reported that they were alerted by banks that unauthorised transactions had been processed through their businesses.
Through follow-up investigations, officers from Tanglin Police Division and Commercial Affairs Department established the identity of the Chinese national and arrested him on Feb 10.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Liu Hesheng had allegedly tampered with the Europay, Mastercard and Visa chips of stolen credit cards and used them to make several unauthorised transactions of luxury goods amounting to a total of $85,000.
Several items such as multiple credit cards believed to be forged, three mobile devices, a branded luxury watch and a radio-frequency identification device were found in his possession and were seized as case exhibits.

According to the charge sheet, Liu allegedly used an American Express credit card under another person's name on Jan 19 to buy a Rolex Daytona watch worth $32,716.10 at Watch Capital in 111 Somerset mall, reported The Straits Times.
Investigations also revealed that he is believed to be involved in other similar cases.
The offence of cheating carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.
