A motorcyclist narrowly avoided a collision after a car ran a red light at a junction along Orchard Road on May 23 at 4.15pm.

The incident, which took place at the intersection of Orchard Link and Bideford Road, was captured on video and submitted by Stomper E.

In the video, the traffic light can be seen turning green for vehicles travelling along Orchard Road.

As the motorcyclist begins to accelerate and approaches the yellow box at the junction, a car is seen driving across the road from Orchard Link, despite the red light signal.

The motorcyclist avoided what could have been a serious collision.

Stomper E said: "I was so close to witnessing this accident from a front row seat."

The motorcyclist turns around and points at the car angrily. He also glances over his shoulder, as if to confirm whether others had witnessed the incident.

Another motorcyclist riding behind him echoed the sentiment, and also points at the vehicle in frustration.

According to the police, failing to conform to traffic light signals incurs a penalty of 12 demerit points, as well as a $400 or $500 composition fine for light and heavy vehicles, respectively.
