A taxi driver was found dead in his vehicle at North Bridge Road on Thursday (June 23).

A video circulating online shows several police officers carrying the body out of the yellow taxi onto a white plastic sheet. The cabby was wearing a striped shirt and blue jeans. The body appeared to be in rigor mortis, which is when the muscles stiffen hours after death.

Another video shows the taxi covered in a white sheet and surrounded by police.

In response to a Stomp query, police said that on June 23 at about 6.05pm, they were alerted to a case of unnatural death at 10 North Bridge Road.

"A 71-year-old man was found lying motionless and was pronounced dead at scene by a paramedic. Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play," said police.

Investigations are ongoing.
