Cabby, 71, accused of running red light, causing grievous injury to motorcyclist in Bukit Batok
Two motorists are expected to be charged on July 23 with dangerous driving causing grievous hurt in separate accidents.
The first accident took place along Bukit Batok West Avenue 5 towards Brickland Road on Oct 22, 2024.
A 71-year-old female taxi driver failed to stop at a red light, resulting in a collision with a motorcycle that had the right of way.
The motorcyclist sustained grievous injuries.
In the other accident, a 62-year-old male motorcyclist ran a red light along Upper Bukit Timah Road towards Bukit Timah Road on March 18, 2025.
This resulted in a collision with another motorcycle that had the right of way.
Both the accused and his pillion sustained grievous injuries.
Also expected in court on July 23 are 13 men, aged between 34 and 74, to be charged with driving without reasonable consideration causing grievous hurt.
One of them is a 57-year-old car driver who collided with a motorcycle while making an unauthorised U-turn at Bedok North Avenue 4 on May 20, 2024.
The motorcyclist sustained grievous injuries.

Two of the 13 cases involved pedestrians.
On July 31, 2024, a 42-year-old car driver collided with a pedestrian on a zebra crossing at Cairnhill Road.
On March 23, 2025, a 69-year-old taxi driver was making a left turn at Bukit Batok Street 23 when he collided with a pedestrian crossing the road when the pedestrian light was green.
The pedestrians in both cases sustained grievous injuries.
The first offence of dangerous driving causing grievous hurt carries a jail term between one and five years, and disqualification from driving all classes of vehicles.
The first offence of driving without due care or reasonable consideration causing
grievous hurt carries a fine of up to $5,000, a jail term of up to two years, or both.
