Bus goes up in flames on BKE, driver and 11 passengers evacuate
A passenger bus caught fire along the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) towards the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) on Mar 6.
Stomper Grace alerted Stomp to the incident and shared a video she took as she was passing the scene on the other side of the expressway.
Another Stomper, also named Grace, shared a TikTok video of the same incident, showing flames and smoke coming from the rear of the bus.
In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the fire at 6.15pm, near the Kranji Expressway (KJE) exit.
"The fire involved a single-deck passenger bus, which was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived," an SCDF spokesperson said.
The bus driver and 11 passengers managed to evacuate safely before SCDF's arrival.
"Firefighters extinguished the blaze using three water jets," SCDF said.
There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
