A BMW X1 caught fire in Bukit Batok on a rainy morning on July 9.

Stomper Ben shared a video of the stationary vehicle with flames coming out of the front in the middle of the road as raindrops pelted the ground.

A Traffic Police officer can be seen some distance behind the smoking car directing traffic and a fire engine was parked in front. A firefighter then approached the BMW to put out the fire.

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire near the junction of Bukit Batok East Avenue 3 and Bukit Batok Street 21.

The fire, which involved the engine compartment, was extinguished using a hosereel.

There were no reported injuries, added SCDF.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
