A woman was going for supper with her boyfriend at 2.25am on Jan 31 when they discovered a fire at Block 34 Jalan Bukit Ho Swee.

TikTok user Alicia Chloe shared a video of the flames at the back of the block in the Beo Crescent area.

She wrote in the description that she heard the sound of fire crackling and saw a glowing red light.

"My BF was curious who was burning things at such hour. We went to take a look," said the TikTok user.

"Shocked. We saw the fire burning fiercely with an air-con compressor box on the second level being burned off."

She added: "There were two explosions, and it actually helped to wake people living upstairs. We shouted to the neighbours looking out from their windows, 'There's fire!'

"The China tenants from the shop also rushed out in their underwear to extinguish the fire. Finally, I see people coming downstairs from their houses to be safe.

"An Indian man put out the fire with a water hose from the shop before the firemen did their work."

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire at about 2:20am.

The fire, which involved discarded items in a metal cage at level 1 and an air-con compressor at level 2, was extinguished using a compressed air foam backpack and a hosereel.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
