Audience members scream and shout at Minecraft movie screening, Stomper leaves to get refund
Has the trend of rowdiness at A Minecraft Movie screenings hit Singapore?
During one screening at a Golden Village cinema in Jurong Point on April 11, audience members were causing such a ruckus that Stomper Burger walked out of the movie.
"They started screaming and shouting before the advertisements even started," said the Stomper.
"We thought that they would stop once the movie started, but they screamed even louder and that was when we started recording the video as evidence and decided to leave the cinema to get our refund."
The Stomper shared the video taken in the darkened theatre where people can be heard yelling and cheering louder than they should.
He said: "God knows what they did for the rest of the movie and I pity those who stayed but wanted to watch the movie peacefully."
In A Minecraft Movie screening attended by Stomp at Shaw Theatres Lido on April 12, there was also a group of young men who talked loudly and hollered obnoxiously at the beginning of the movie.
But they were quiet for most of the run time except for certain scenes such as when the infamous "chicken jockey" appeared.
This is part of a internet-driven worldwide trend where people have thrown popcorn and even brought a live chicken to the movie.
The police were called to one US screening.
This has led to theatres warning people to behave or risk being removed.
In Singapore, at the Shaw Theatres screening that Stomp attended, a slide with the header "Important announcement" appeared on the screen before the movie that read: "To help ensure everyone enjoys their visit, we kindly ask that you respect those around you by keeping noise to a minimum and refraining from using mobile phones during the film.
"Disruptive behaviour before, during, or after the screening may result in being asked to leave the premises.
"Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping everyone enjoy the movie."

Stomp has reached out to Golden Village for more info.
The Stomper did get a refund.
