Are Singaporeans so kiasu that we have to cut queue and rush like it's life and death?
Welcome to Stomping Ground - a space where Stompers share reflections, personal essays and social commentaries that spark conversation and insight.
They call it FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out).
In Singapore, we say kiasu -- but are we going overboard?
Stomper Nigel feels that queuing and rushing are like competitive sports here.
He was waiting for a bus at Bishan Bus Interchange at around 5.40am on June 30 and observed multiple people cutting into his line.
Nigel recounted: "Three people cut the queue freely despite me being in line first. Being entitled and thinking they are way above, they decided to interrupt the queue and cut in despite there being a queue system.
"Singaporeans nowadays chase seats eagerly like it's a life and death situation."
