Former local actress Carole Lin recently went for an operation for a serious leg injury.
Posting a video of herself using a walking frame with her left foot bandaged, the 52-year-old said on Instagram on March 9 that she is homebound for now.
"The incident was traumatic and graphic, don't read on if you can't stomach it," she told her fans before detailing her accident.
Lin said she was looking for a place to have lunch along a row of shophouses when she missed a step while she was looking at a restaurant across the road.
"One foot went crashing down... and went 'crack'," she wrote.
"I found myself sitting on the ground with a sprained right ankle and on the left leg - a foot hanging lifeless... oozing blood, snapped fibula poking through my calf... and tibia shattered."
Lin, who did not disclose where and when the incident took place, said she was hit by shock and excruciating pain.
"It was traumatic. But I'm still counting my blessings and I'm humbled by the universe's way of telling me there's more out there to learn and appreciate," she wrote. "Most importantly: Please look where you are going."
Lin thanked those who did their best to help her, adding that she would dedicate her next post to them.
A finalist of Mediacorp's talent competition Star Search in 1995, Lin is famous for roles in Channel 8 TV series such as the 1940s post-war drama Tofu Street (1996) and World War II drama The Price Of Peace (1997).
The Price Of Peace won her the Best Actress accolade at Mediacorp's annual Star Awards.
Lin has not been active in the industry since her last TV series, historical drama The Journey: A Voyage (2013 to 2014). She married United States-born Korean chiropractor David Lim in 2014 and they have a nine-year-old daughter.
