Accidents in AMK and Paya Lebar lead to arrest of two men after illegal items found in their vehicles

Two men were arrested after drug utensils, e-vaporisers and weapons were found in their vehicles following accidents on Dec 2 and 3.
Controlled drugs were also found in a car involved in one of the accidents.
In the Dec 3 incident, a 35-year-old male driver was arrested for possession of offensive weapons and suspected drug-trafficking offences.
His car was believed to have skidded at the junction of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8.
"Two flick knives, one penknife, one knuckle duster, two e-vaporisers, controlled drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in the car," said the police who were alerted to the incident at about 7.05am.
The man was conscious when taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), which was contacted at about 7.10am.
In a video posted on Facebook showing the aftermath of the accident, a white car is seen overturned on a slip road near a zebra crossing, with its front bumper fallen off and on a nearby grass patch.
The police said the vape-related offence will be referred to the Health Sciences Authority, while the suspected drug-trafficking offences have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau. Investigations are ongoing.
In the Dec 2 incident, a man was arrested after a knife, two e-vaporisers and drug paraphernalia were found in his van following an accident near Tanjong Katong Complex in Paya Lebar.
The police said they were alerted to an accident involving a car and two vans in Sims Avenue, towards Sims Avenue East, at about 3.10pm.
A 42-year-old man - one of the van drivers - was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon and suspected drug-related offences. He is also being investigated for careless driving while on drugs, the police added.
The car driver, a 44-year-old man, was taken to Changi General Hospital by the SCDF, which was alerted at about 3.15pm. A SCDF paramedic also assessed two other persons, who declined to be taken to hospital.
In a video of the accident's aftermath posted on Facebook, a van is seen in the rightmost lane of the five-lane road near Wisma Geylang Serai, with a door open. A police car is in the lane next to the van.
A few metres ahead, just before a traffic light, a car with a badly damaged boot is seen in the same lane as the police car. In front of the car are two tow trucks and another van.
