A traffic accident at the junction of Draycott Drive, Draycott Park on Aug 20 has reignited concerns about road safety in the area.

Stomper Anne, a resident, said the junction is notoriously difficult to navigate, with five to six roads converging at a spot with poor visibility.

The accident, which involved a blue BMW and a white lorry, occurred between 10am and 10.30am. A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) ambulance and police officers were observed at the scene.

In photos shared by the Stomper, the right side of the BMW is badly damaged and debris is on the road.

Stomp understands the drivers were advised to file claims with their respective insurers.

"It is uphill for some, a difficult corner for others and sheer confusion for those turning from Draycott Park to Ardmore Park," Anne said, adding that residents have given feedback about the junction to the authorities.

"And there's a new condominium going up, which means one more driveway to add to the chaos."

The Stomper shared a conversation among residents in the area regarding the collision.

"Oh my God, that's a pretty big hit," one person said. "Looks like the car's airbag deployed."

Another resident, recalling a past accident at the same junction, said: "I was one of the first on the scene for the motorbike crash here two months ago. I suspect motorists speed up the hill and don't have time to react when they see a vehicle turning in."

According to Anne, the junction, which sits in front of the Draycott 8 and Eden condominiums, is also marked by a sign appealing for witnesses to the earlier fatal crash.

She noted that even experienced drivers often misjudge the turns.

"Probably 25 per cent of Grab drivers leaving The Claymore from the north entrance onto Ardmore Park turn right into oncoming traffic by accident as well," she added.

"They definitely need to do some work on that intersection. Pedestrians crossing here are also risking their lives."
