82-year-old man taken to hospital after accident with bus at Sumang Walk junction
An 82-year-old man was taken to hospital after he was hit by a bus in Punggol on March 19.
Two Stompers alerted Stomp to a TikTok video showing the aftermath of the accident at the junction of Sumang Walk and Sumang Link.
In the video, the bus captain and a motorcyclist are seen standing over the man who is being sheltered from the rain with a couple of umbrellas.
A Foodpanda delivery rider is later seen stopping to help as well.
It is unclear who had the right of way but the caption on the video reminds pedestrians to 'make sure' the light is green before crossing.
In response to a Stomp query, the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident at 4.45pm.
An 82-year-old male pedestrian was taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
"A 53-year-old male bus driver is assisting with investigations," a police spokesperson said.
Go-Ahead Singapore (GAS) told Stomp that the bus captain has been removed from duty while investigations are ongoing.
"We have been actively trying to contact the pedestrian's family to offer our support and assistance, and we appeal for them to get in touch with us," a GAS spokesperson said.
Police investigations are ongoing.
