53-year-old man arrested for carrying parang along Lorong 35 Geylang

A 53-year-old man has been arrested for carrying a parang along Lorong 35 Geylang on Jan 24.

The police said in a statement that they were alerted to the case of suspected possession of an offensive weapon at about 6pm that day.

There were no reported injuries.

Officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within seven hours after the incident was reported.

The man will be charged in court on Jan 28 with the offence of possession of schedule weapon under the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act.
