Two teenage boys and one teenage girl, aged between 17 and 19, were arrested for two separate cases of loanshark harassment.

The police were alerted on Oct 20 and 21 to the cases in Admiralty Drive and Woodlands Avenue 1 where the doors of the flats were splashed with red paint and a debtor’s note was left behind.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Woodlands, Jurong and Bedok Police Divisions established the identities of the three teens and arrested them on Oct 22.

Two debtor’s notes were seized as case exhibits.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the three are believed to be involved in several similar cases of loanshark harassment islandwide.

The trio will be charged in court on Oct 24 under the Moneylenders Act 2008.

For first-time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, with imprisonment of up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes.
