Two men, aged 18 and 19, were arrested for their suspected involvement in stealing a motorcycle.

The police received a report on Dec 30, 2017, at around 4.50pm from a victim who said that his motorcycle was missing from the carpark of Block 217 Compassvale Drive.

The motorcycle was recovered along Harbourfront Walk four days later.

The suspects were arrested on Jan 8 along Yio Chu Kang Road by officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division.

A screwdriver, a small adjustable wrench and two sets of multi-tools were seized.

The men were to be charged in court on Jan 10 with the offence of theft of motor vehicle.

If convicted, they may be sentenced to up to seven years' jail and a fine.

The police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
  • Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;
  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and
  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
