2-in-1 combo weapon found in compartment under steering wheel of M'sian car at Woodlands Checkpoint
A prohibited item was found in a Malaysia-registered car entering Singapore at Woodlands Checkpoint on May 30.
After the vehicle was directed for enhanced checks, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers uncovered a dual-function weapon - flick knife combined with knuckle duster - inside a compartment under the steering wheel of the car.
The case was referred to the Singapore Police Force for further investigation.
The offence of possessing an offensive weapon carries an imprisonment term of up to five years and at least six strokes of cane.
Two days later, ICA officers at Woodlands Checkpoint found in another Malaysia-registered car entering Singapore more than 2,500 e-vaporisers and 500 smokeless tobacco products hidden behind the car boot.
The case was referred to the Health Sciences Authority for further investigation.
It is an offence to import, distribute, sell or offer for sale e-vaporisers and their components.
Any person convicted is liable to a fine of up to $10,000, imprisonment of up to six months or both for the first offence; and a fine of up to $20,000, imprisonment of up to 12 months or both for each subsequent offence.
