18 women arrested for vice at MacPherson Road and Kramat Road near Orchard

One man and 18 women, aged between 20 and 41, were arrested for their vice-related activities between Aug 13 and 14.
The arrests resulted from raids at MacPherson Road and Kramat Road (near Orchard Road) conducted by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department.
During the two-day operation, cash amounting to more than $2,000, three mobile phones and other vice-related paraphernalia were seized.
The 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly facilitating the operation of an online vice syndicate under the Women’s Charter 1961.
Investigations against the women are ongoing.
Under the Women’s Charter 1961:
- Any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of another person shall be liable on conviction to imprisonment of up to seven years and shall also be liable to a fine not exceeding $100,000.
- Any person who keeps, manages or assists in the management of a place of assignation shall be liable on conviction to imprisonment of up to five years and shall also be liable to a fine not exceeding $100,000.
