16-year-old victim suffers facial injuries after getting robbed of $60 in Yishun, 3 youths arrested
Three youths, aged between 16 and 17, have been arrested for their suspected involvement in a case of robbery with hurt.
The police said in a statement that they were alerted to the case at Yishun Avenue 4 on Feb 20 at about 2.55am.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the three youths allegedly assaulted a 16-year-old victim and $60 in cash was taken away from him.
The suspects are unknown to the victim who sustained facial injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Officers identified the trio and arrested them within the same day.
They will be charged in court on Feb 21.
The offence of robbery with hurt carries a jail term of between five and 20 years, and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
The police said they will not tolerate such "brazen acts of crime" and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
Members of the public who encounter such cases are advised to remain calm, take note of the physical appearance and distinctive features of the perpetratro, and call for the police as soon as possible.
