105 parking offenders booked in Jurong, Holland V and Yishun: A waiting vehicle is considered parked, says LTA
A waiting vehicle is considered parked.
According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA), even if the driver is present or the engine is running, it's considered parking.
As far as LTA is concerned, "parking" refers to stopping a vehicle other than immediately picking up or dropping off passengers, goods or luggage.
On Sept 3, LTA posted on social media: "Last week, we booked 105 vehicles at Jurong East, Holland Village and Yishun for various parking offences."
These offences include:
- Parking on roads with continuous white lines or unbroken yellow lines
- Parking on footways and in "no parking" zones
- Parking in areas causing unnecessary obstruction to other road users, such as access to entrances, exits or footways
Offenders can face penalties and/or demerit points based on their vehicles and violation type. First-time offenders face fines up to $300 while repeat offenders face higher penalties.
