A TikTok video showing vapes being discarded on the Causeway by travellers before they enter Singapore has gone viral, amusing and enraging netizens in equal measure.

On Sept 16, TikTok user pupala2177 shared a compilation of clips showing vapes tossed onto the road, with the subtitle: "POV: you're on the way back to SG from JB".

At least five vapes were shown discarded along the roadside, with some appearing to have been flattened by passing vehicles.

As of press time, the video had garnered over 258,700 views and 6,000 likes. The same post on Reddit has also amassed over 400 upvotes.

With vaping banned in Singapore, those who attempt to import vapes into the Republic face penalties such as a fine of up to $10,000 or imprisonment for up to six months.

Some netizens found the video amusing, joking that these vapers had to "get one last puff in before they return to the motherland", while others quipped that they should be "charged for littering".

However, several users were more critical, calling such actions "despicable".

"At least they should have thrown it in the right way," one user lamented.

Others commented on current legislation, with one saying: "Will never understand why vape cannot but you can smoke as many cigarettes you want."

Another netizen pointed out that the littering of cigarette butts has caused similar issues, while others suggested setting up a vape disposal bin to facilitate the proper disposal, rather than leaving the roadside littered with discarded vapes.
