Stomper praises civic-minded woman who sprung into action to clear newspapers off road in Ang Mo Kio
A woman was seen picking up stray newspapers scattered along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 on July 9.
Stomper Kiran shared photos and videos of the woman, whom he described as "civic-minded."
The woman can be seen picking up newspapers at the road divider opposite Mayflower MRT station.
"She left her bag unattended and jumped into action immediately," Kiran recounted. "She said that the flying newspapers were going to distract the drivers and took it upon herself to clear them."
Kiran explained that he saw the woman's handbag, along with other plastic bags and papers, at the MRT station's taxi stand at about 5pm.
He told Stomp: "When she noticed me looking around to find the owner of the bag, she was standing at the road divider and said to me that there were lots of newspapers strewn around, and that she was picking them up to make sure they didn't fly around and distract drivers.
"She continued picking up as many as she could, also making sure of her own safety as she was in a tight spot. She continued, then I left.
The next morning, Kiran saw that the road was clear of trash. He also spotted black bags next to a rubbish bin.
"As to how the newspaper landed there, I wasn't present," Kiran added. "But she had them to clear up someone else's mess. And that's very kind of her."'
