Following a spate of reports regarding the use and abuse of bicycles from bike-sharing services like ofo, oBike and Mobike, comes a hero.

Zhivko Girginov, a Bulgarian who has lived in Singapore for nine years, has taken it upon himself to help clear the streets of these damaged bikes.

He said that instead of complaining about these bicycles cluttering public spaces, he decided to do something about it.

Since September, he has conducted three "raids" using a rented lorry to collect damaged bicycles and putting them in a public space where bike operators can pick them up later, reports The Straits Times.

The 42-year-old piano teacher receives no payment for doing this and says that he does it out of a sense of civic duty.
