Woman in revealing clothes singing in foodcourt raises concern about her boots dirtying tabletops

A Reddit post of a woman in revealing clothes singing in a foodcourt has got netizens worried about whether her boots might have dirtied the tabletops.

Titled "Allowed anot?", the post by @uandeufader, with the subtitles, "Woman turns food court into stage as she sings and walks on tables", appears to question if her antics are permitted.

Shared on Oct 31, it had received 270 upvotes and 90 comments at press time.

The video was originally posted the day before on Facebook page SG Daily, where it garnered 128,000 views, 224 reactions and 115 comments.

The video shows the woman, who is identified in the comments as Singapore-based New Zealand singer Kira Peace, singing on a platform that's level with the tables at the food court, which netizens say is located at Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

She then struts across the platform and squats next to a man, singing to him, before rising and swaying her hips as the video ends. The original audio is then replaced with the Jet2 Holiday soundtrack.

Netizens seemed curious whether a licence was required for the act. "Halo coffeshop licence not for singing," said a Facebook user.

Some netizens, misled by the subtitles, believed the singer was using the tables as her stage and were concerned with hygiene. "Did she sanitise the tables afterwards?" asked one.

Not everyone was against the idea of the performance. "It is ok to be crazy if you are hot," said a Facebook user.

"That boy enjoying the privilege. Nice effort to bring life in food court if not the normal routine also boring," another said.

There were humorous comments, too. "Wow, good for the audience in food court who can't afford Taylor Swift 's concert," said a Facebook user.

"Can hang flower?" asked another, alluding to Thai-style nightclubs where patrons buy expensive garlands for performers.

Yet another said: "Times are bad. Even expatriates need to earn extra $ dancing on the food court table"

One Redditor joked that the singer was giving beer aunties a run for their money.

"The food court is challenging the Kopi beer sale by offering a catwalk and sexy diva singers. To attract all the old beer heroes to go drink there," said the Redditor.

In response to Stomp's queries, a Ngee Ann Polytechnic spokesperson said that the school is aware of the video, and that the incident took place on Aug 7. "The actions by the individual were not part of any activity organised or authorised by the polytechnic, and the individual featured in the video is not one of our students."

"When our security team arrived at the scene, she had already left the premises," added the spokesperson.

Stomp has reached out to Kira Peace for comment.
