# TikToker apologises after saying ‘good luck’ to S’poreans as she goes overseas amid haze, draws flak for ‘gloating’

A content creator has apologised after drawing criticism for comments about the haze, with some accusing her of being “insensitive” and “gloating” about having the means to travel abroad to escape poor air quality in Singapore.

However, several netizens said they saw nothing wrong with her post.

The content creator, who goes by @justjazzle on TikTok, shared a video of herself at an airport, saying that she was “escaping the haze”. The clip has since been taken down, but was reposted by user @zenyuiklove29 on Oct 19.

“Good luck to whoever is in Singapore, because I will not be here anymore, at least for the next six days, five nights,” Jazzle says in the video.

In a follow-up post addressing a netizen who accused her of “gloating”, she adds that she was “literally just excited to breathe fresh air”.

Zenyuiklove29 said in the post’s caption that they understood Jazzle’s perspective, but felt it was not the “right time” to express such sentiments.

“Not everyone has the luxury going to ‘escape’ the haze like this,” the netizen wrote.

“Have some consideration for our neighbours around the world, especially in Kalimantan where they’re experiencing about 3,000 PSI of haze!”

Singapore actor Fauzi Azzhar shared his thoughts in a post on Oct 19, saying that he felt her comments were “insensitive” and “distasteful”.

“I think it’s okay if you escape from Singapore, but if you are using it to make a mockery of the people who can’t even escape, I think that’s a bit tone deaf,” he adds.

## TikToker apologises after netizens’ response

Speaking to Stomp, Jazzle said she takes full responsibility for her “lack of awareness and knowledge” regarding poor air quality levels overseas.

> Upon reflection, I understand that my tone and delivery came across as insensitive and offensive to some people. I can understand why my words were perceived that way, and I sincerely apologise for the hurt and offence caused.

She clarified that she had no ill intentions when posting the video, and did not intend to discriminate or look down on anyone.

The content creator also took to TikTok to clear the air on Oct 19, explaining that she was unaware of the haze situation in other parts of the region. However, she acknowledged that this is “not an excuse” for her comments.

She adds that she had not realised that the original video could be perceived as belittling or ridiculing others, and would not have posted it had she known.

“Thank you guys for letting me know that I sounded very insensitive. I don’t want to be that kind of person. So, I’ll take this as a learning lesson to be more careful with what I say,” she concludes.
