# Taxi driver, 44, sexually assaults drunk passenger and leaves morning-after pill in her mailbox with note to call him

A 44-year-old taxi driver in Tokyo, Japan has been arrested after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her home.

According to Japan Today, the taxi driver had picked up the female passenger in the city at around 12.30am on Oct 7.

The woman, who was in her 20s, appeared to be heavily intoxicated.

Upon arriving at her destination, he then helped the woman into her apartment and allegedly sexually assaulted her for 20 minutes.

## How the crime was discovered

A few days after the incident, the woman discovered an emergency contraceptive pill — also called a “morning-after pill” — in her mailbox, with a note attached.

The note read: “”If you want to see me again, call this number.”

She later made a police report.

## ‘I didn’t force her’

When questioned by police, the women recounted that she had fallen asleep in the taxi, and could not remember what happened afterwards.

Police tracked down the taxi driver’s whereabouts using the phone number provided in the note he had left in the woman’s mailbox.

He was later arrested and has denied the allegation.

According to police, the man said, “I didn’t force her to do anything. It was consensual.”

If convicted, the man can be sentenced to imprisonment for up to 10 years, in accordance with Japan Penal Code.
