# Police raid Chinatown food court after elderly men seen kissing women and groping their breasts

Police have raided a Chinatown food court, which made headlines in mid-October when its elderly patrons were spotted kissing women and groping their breasts.

During the raid, four women were arrested for working without a valid work permit.

In a Threads post, a female diner said she witnessed several elderly men getting intimate with women who appeared to be in their 40s at a food court on the first floor of People’s Park Complex in Chinatown.

Shin Min Daily News was alerted to a police raid conducted at the food court by several plainclothes police officers at about 7pm on Oct 20.

“I saw a commotion and thought something had happened. Later, I realised there were about seven or eight plainclothes officers, both men and women, questioning people one by one inside the food court,” the source said.

When Shin Min visited the food court on the evening of Oct 27, the scene was visibly different. Many tables were empty, with only a handful of diners eating there.

The alleged hostesses were almost nowhere to be seen, with only a few still pouring drinks for patrons.

Nearby business owners said the situation at the mall had improved following the police raid.

One said that even when older men invited the women to dine with them at the food court, the women turned them down, apparently worried about attracting the attention of enforcement officers.

## Women arrested for working without valid work permits

Business owners said that even when the food court was packed on Fridays and weekends, the women were now rarely seen.

They added that the public displays of affection, including older men embracing and kissing women outside the food court, had stopped.

In response to Stomp’s queries, the police confirmed that an enforcement operation was conducted at a food court in People’s Park Complex on Oct 20.

Four women, aged between 33 and 48, were arrested for working without a valid work permit.

Police investigations are ongoing.

## Shop staff saw women crying as they asked older men for money

A nearby shop employee said they had witnessed women crying as they asked older men for money outside the mall’s toilets.

“Those women were crying so pitifully that we thought something had happened. They didn’t seem to care who was watching as they asked the older men for money.

“When we asked around, we found out they were asking for just $20. Why go to such lengths?” the employee asked, in disbelief that such a thing was happening at People’s Park Complex.
