# ‘Please have some culture’: Woman tells tourist off for queue-cutting at Chengdu attraction

A woman told a tourist off for cutting the queue for an attraction in Chengdu, China.

In a video uploaded to Instagram on Aug 23, user @xie_juju captured a woman who appeared to be a tourist cutting the queue to take a photo at Wenshu Yuan Monastery in Chengdu, where a Chinese character “幸”, meaning “good fortune”, was displayed.

“After you’ve queued for 30 minutes, a mainland Chinese auntie tries to jump the queue in 0.5 seconds? Sorry... I absolutely refused to let her cut in!” the caption read.

The seemingly scripted video has since garnered over 2 million views and more than 1,500 comments.

## ‘Please have some culture’: Woman tells tourist off for cutting queue

The start of the clip captures a couple walking away, freeing up the photo spot for the next person.

At first, it appears as though xie_juju, who has her phone set up to take a photo, is making her way to the specified spot. However, just as she is about to get there, a woman in a blue dress suddenly rushes towards the symbol and begins posing for a photo.

Approaching the woman, xie_juju calls out: “Auntie! Need to queue up.”

She then points to the people queuing and repeats herself.

In response, the older woman gestures towards the symbol and replies: “I’m just going to take a quick photo.”

Xie_juju then emphasises that everyone has had to queue to take photos at the spot, and that they had been waiting a long time. She adds: “Please show some culture and queue up.”

She then takes her place next to the symbol, after which the woman in blue leaves.

## ‘You did the right thing’: Netizens

Many netizens praised xie_juju for telling the woman off and standing her ground.

“You did the right thing,” a commenter said.

Others agreed that the woman in blue should have queued for her turn.

Several commenters also described xie_juju as brave for speaking up.

However, a few users said people should show some generosity some times.

“It’s okay to show generosity. Not every ego battle needs to be won,” one wrote.
