The TikTok #freewill trend has come to Singapore, as a teenage boy's clip of himself eating a McDonald's ice cream cone out of an employee's hand went viral.

The 14-second clip, posted by TikToker @buddybabanut, had garnered over 200,000 views and 19,800 likes at press time.

He is known for jumping on viral trends, including skipping across a road and bowing in front of cars, as well as attempting to score the cheapest order at popular self-serve frozen yogurt brand Yochi.

This time, buddybabanut was participating in the #freewill trend, where netizens engage in behaviour that often deviates from social norms, like striking a conversation with a stranger, or lying down on a bench in public.

In his TikTok video, he orders a McDonald's ice cream cone at an outlet purportedly located in Yishun, jumping with excitement as the employee holds it out to him.

He leans forward to bite the cone, then grabs it from the top with his hands. As he walks away, he takes a bite from the bottom of the cone as well.

Netizens confused and amused

Some commenters were baffled by the TikToker's actions, with several calling it a "public nuisance".

"Poor auntie," one commented, while others tagged their friends to recreate the scene.

Others were tickled at the sight, joking that it was the "most normal day in Yishun".
